TeamTec Receives TG6 Type Approval for New Incinerator Generation

Now biodiesel compatible, simplifying onboard waste handling for vessel operators facing tightening emissions requirements.

New generation of marine incinerators is now biodiesel compatible, simplifying onboard waste handling for vessel operators facing tightening emissions requirements.

As more vessel operators explore lower-emission fuels and prepare for evolving environmental requirements, onboard waste treatment systems must also adapt. Fuel flexibility is becoming an increasingly important consideration across vessel systems, including incinerators used for onboard waste handling.

TeamTec has now received TG6 Type Approval (MED-B) from DNV for its new generation of marine incinerators. The approval covers the OG200, OG400, GS500, GS900 and GS1000 models and is valid from 13 May 2026 to 12 May 2031.

For vessel operators, the new TG6 generation is designed to simplify onboard waste handling while supporting future fuel flexibility and regulatory requirements.

Full biodiesel compatibility

Developed and tested over several years, the new incinerator generation builds on TeamTec's long experience in marine waste treatment.

The defining feature of the TG6 generation is full biodiesel compatibility. The system can operate on all types of biodiesel, a capability not widely available in the market today.

As more vessels adopt alternative fuels to reduce emissions, operators must consider how existing onboard systems will perform with new fuel types. Equipment compatibility can become a practical barrier to implementation. By enabling operation on all biodiesel types, the TG6 generation removes one potential obstacle while allowing operators to maintain established waste-handling procedures.

This gives shipowners and operators greater flexibility as the maritime industry continues its transition towards lower-emission operations, without requiring separate fuel systems or compromising incineration performance.

Rigorous testing, real-world reliability

A Type Approval of this scope is not something obtained quickly. It requires extensive documentation, comprehensive testing and several years of dedicated development work across the organisation, from the drawing board to the production floor.

The result is an improved incinerator generation, approved by DNV and ready to meet the requirements of a growing international market.

As with previous generations, the TG6 incinerators retain TeamTec's PLC-automated control, self-cleaning nozzle and filter-free design. These features help keep daily operation simple, minimize maintenance requirements and support reliable performance in demanding marine environments, while meeting strict international waste-handling standards.

"With TG6, we are introducing a more flexible and future-ready incinerator generation. Biodiesel compatibility gives our customers a practical way to reduce emissions today, without waiting for new infrastructure or new equipment standards."
